And don&#039;t forget that the Palestinians, particularly in Gaza, are dependent upon Israel for electricity and clean water.  If they declare themselves to be independent, Israel could easily cut them off and just wish them luck.

I can&#039;t imagine Israel budging until the Palestinians make some tangible move towards peace.  Not the lip service Arafat gave (and then promptly turn his back on), but something real.  Israel has made several major moves, such as allowing the PLO to return to the territories, release of prisoners, and moving out of Gaza.  I can&#039;t think of anything tangible that the Palestinians have done.  There just seems to be zero rate of return for Israel on taking anything given to the Palestinians.</description>
