This is a bit puzzling to those of us who think the only reason to put on a tuxedo is for the high-priced alcohol that usually ensues.
But after further thought, I was not surprised by the president’s toasting preference. Remember, Obama promised the “planet will begin to heal” at his inauguration, It must disappoint him that the water in his glass did not turn into wine.

Unlike Bush who was an Alcoholic, and also a failed one at that. Obama does not get drunk at functions. Does not throw up on guests and respects his guests enough not to over indulge in drinking.
Must be galling for you to have a decent family in the white house one that has really good solid values after the Bush twins and their dysfunctional parents. Family values a Liberal thing.

Although I’d point out that the people who really believe that it’s possible to turn water into wine are generally the same people who believe that supply side tax policies actually create enough economic growth to eliminate the deficit.

Look you guys, don’t knock this post. The guy’s got to get his feet wet. Besides you get what you pay for. This site is free. This guy is paid? Are you kidding me? Frum doesn’t have advertisers and if he did there is no traffic. This is just a way for these kids to pad their resumes which are at this point confined to being content free.

“Kennedy wasn’t (an alcoholic)” is the claim? I would agree. He was simply, incredibly irresponsible to the point that while drunk he killed people, he ruined lives, he allowed his nephews to rape women on the front lawn at the Kennedy Compound in FLA, he raped Senate staffers while on vacation, he destroyed his marriage, he broke his Mother’s heart, etc. I guess that what happens when you are stuck with Jack’s and Bobbie’s sloppy seconds and a thrid-rate career in the Senate.
And you have to wait until you’re dead to have the longest period of soberity in the Kennedy Family history.

Getting back on thread, BlankHead, I hear that there are really 2 reasons Obama isn’t drinking wine for the toast… 1) someone in the metrosexual Secret Service team told him he was getting a little soft around the backside, he needed to drop a few and he’s determined to “firm up, tone up” or else get cheeky with “Stand Up & Clap” cardio once again… 2) he’s a muslim and they don’t drink (which ain’t true, btw… the muslim not drinking part).

BlankHead, not at all –unless you think all men who want to stay healthy are queer? The Obami cult inside the WH requested that a certain mix of race, age, physical size & “looks” be required for “Renegade” and “Renaissance” security teams. They wanted more people of color; younger; more urban; shorter –to make the Prez & the First Squeeze look more mature, taller in public photo ops. Hey, they tried that with AirForceOne jet… why won’t it work on the main product?
