If the decision to release the Lockerbie bomber was made in London, not Scotland, when did the Obama administration first learn of it and what did it say? We are very far as yet from knowing the full truth of this story. Note by the way that White House spokesman Robert Gibbs has condemned the Libyan reception of the bomber as “disgraceful” – but has had no such hard words for the real disgrace, the decision to release. Why not?

Because clearly they, like anyone with an internet connection and half a brain, can figure out that he almost certainly didn’t do it.

Sometimes conservatives like to associate themselves with Christianity. But Christianity also is a religion of mercy and forgiveness. No sin is unforgivable. That a country decides to provide compassionate release for a terminally ill patient is well within the western tradition.
The bomber may have been the cause of over two hundred deaths. But he is no more culpable than the tobacco industry executives who lied about tobacco being addictive, knowing that their lies would result in more deaths. In protestant Christianity all sins are equal. A protestant society should stress earthly mercy as a reflection of heavenly mercy. The bible is clear that these principals are to be applied on earth as well as in heaven. And while this is certainly no demand for specific penal policies it certainly allows them.
And remember that Bush accepted a deal from Libya that had long been on the table in an effort to show that his Iraq policy was working. Britain can not be condemned for taking action constant with their justice system to advance their trade goals. And, believe me even if Obama objected there is nothing he could have done to stop them. For the British Christianity and Mercantilism have never come into conflict. The opium cargo is what paid for the bible cargo. Britain is as it has always been completely consistent in its morality.

Regardless of people who have opinions without all the facts such as RLHOSSKISS…a court of law found him guilty and no way should he have been released. I don’t care if he is dying! Does that mean we release ALL prisoners from jail in this country just because they are dying?? Really LOL want them living next to you joedee1969?
