It's tough to govern when you actually try to solve problems. You lose popularity when you get your hands dirty, trying to build a country rather than putting the whole budget on Daddy's Credit Card as the Right Man did.

"GOP NorthEast Resurgence"??? Is that what you said?

This election was not an endorsement of the GOP, it was an FU to Democrats. Massachussetts people hate Democrats the way a 13-year-old girl hates her rich daddy. They keep daddy in charge taking care of the problems, but they also insult him whenever they can, by electing republican governors (almost always) and spitting on the grave of the dead Dem Senator.

Scott Brown did not articulate any policies, certainly no conservative ones. He campaigned as not-Kennedy's-puppy. Can anyone name a stand he has taken or supported? He deplored the debt, and then called for tax cuts without spending cuts. To the extent he talked about abortion, it was an attempt to claim a middle ground, which is a very weak position. He carefully parroted the most vapid party lines without feeling. The religious right is already slavering for his blood.

This victory shows the Dems sinking but not the GOP rising.
