Self-Induced Jihad Syndrome Strikes Again

January 26th, 2010 at 8:54 pm by Sean Linnane | 5 Comments |

Another self-starter arrested in NJ: Lloyd Woodson apprehended after a convenience store clerk thought something was wrong with him (noticed bulges under coat) and called police. Police found Woodson wearing a bulletproof vest. In his nearby motel room they found assault rifles, grenade launcher, night scope, map of nearby base, and “Middle Eastern head garment.”

Can anyone buy a grenade launcher?

Somehow, this doesn’t sound healthy to me.

I think you have it right though – there are a lot of crazies out there, and if they can put an imprinteur of grandeur on their craziness a lot of them will grab it.

And if they succeed in killing people … or in just scaring people … Bin Laden will be happy to claim credit.

New reports say that Mr. Woodson had a fully loaded semi-auto assault weapon under his coat and resisted arrest.

The FBI says he’s not a terrorist.

But that doesn’t rule out the possibility of some average Joe who was about to “go postal.”

    (My question to Mr. Woodson:

“How long ago were you let go from your job?”)

More worrisome, because they are a pod of crazy people rather than a sole crazy person, is this:

Arrested using only pepper spray? Are you serious? There goes another easy psych thesis paper.

In looking at what they say he had, it was all low-end junk. It was a 37mm grenade launcher (typical for tear gas and other less than lethal), not a rocket launcher. Steel plated body armor? A set of Russian NP75 night vision (sells for about $350, a piece of crap). A Bushmaster 5.56mm altered to use .50 caliber? That sounds weird.

Are we sure about this? Sounds like a PX warrior on a budget.

His stuff was low-end, but lethal nonetheless. Consider; there aren’t a lot of million dollar men out there, but there are plenty of 25 cent bullets, and it’s not the bullet with your name on it you have to worry about, it’s the one that says “To Whom It May Concern”.
