    It’s a shame McCain didn’t do what Buckley did at the ‘56 convention, for the good of the GOP. Buckley pointed to the exits and showed the right wing zealots the door. If McCain would have done that by picking Lieberman he very well still would have lost, but he would have effectively contained a group that continues to be a destructive force to the GOP. Sarah Pallin speaking in tongues attracts not enough voters to win her anything beyond Governor of a state with how many people, 200,000, 300,000, 400,000?

    What can I say? You are both wrong. You are quick to point out right wing zealots. Let me ask you, are you a left wing zealot? Or do zealots only exist on the opposing side? If you choose to ignore the evidence that conservatives win elections, then I would argue that your head is in the sand. And, inthemiddle12, where do you get off mentioning speaking in tougues? That might be the most sarcastic and needlessly inflammatory remark I have ever read. Do you ever listen to yourselves? That was simply hateful.

    I sense some class envy going on here–or else some Tom Hartman-ism. how many classes are there anyway? I think this depression is going to sift the fatcats a bit. who knows, maybe even the zillionaire athletes can get knocked off their pedestals–I’ve been waiting for that for a while now…And I’m a fan!
