Last week, the Obama administration strongly criticized an Israeli decision to construct new apartments in East Jerusalem, claiming that the new settlements would derail the peace process. But increasingly the peace process itself appears to be the biggest obstacle to a lasting peace.
In his latest CNN.com column, David Frum contends that the peace process may be prolonging the Arab-Israeli conflict by shielding the Arab world from accepting the consequences of defeat.
FF Contributor Jean Granville argues that the double-standards of the peace process give the Arab world a permanent incentive to attack. Israel is regularly expected to concede more than it has committed to, while the Palestinians are excused from having to honor their agreements.
