Palin on Politico: ‘Puppy Kicking Porn Producers’

The Daily Caller reports:

On Monday, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin mocked her media detractors – Politico, specifically — as “puppy-kicking, chain-smoking porn producers” for their heavy use of anonymous sources in a quote as memorable as Spiro Agnew’s “nattering nabobs of negativism.”

Palin’s latest broadside against the press comes in response to a Politico story that quoted several anonymous Republican operatives worrying aloud that a Palin presidential candidacy could end in disaster.

“We believe she could get the nomination, but Barack Obama would crush her,” said a source identified by Politico as “one prominent and longtime Washington Republican.”

Palin and her allies are hitting back, saying the article is part of a broader pattern of the media embracing a “liberal media elite” mindset.

“The ‘reporters’ who continue to cite ‘unnamed GOP-insiders’ as hard news sources are deemed impotent by the American public as we rise up and say, ‘The state of journalism today stinks. Let’s clean it up and expect some accountability’,” Palin wrote in an email to The Daily Caller.

Palin also mocked Politico’s use of anonymous sources, saying, “I suppose I could play their immature, unprofessional, waste-of-time game, too, by claiming these reporters and politicos are homophobe, child molesting, tax evading, anti-dentite, puppy-kicking, chain smoking porn producers…really, they are… I’ve seen it myself…but I’ll only give you the information off-the-record, on deep, deep background; attribute these ‘facts’ to an ‘anonymous source’ and I’ll give you more.”

So who wrote “puppy-kicking, chain-smoking porn producers” now that Safire is gone?

She’s as paranoid as Nixon but without any of his smarts.

  • TerryF98

    This is pathetic, really pathetic.

  • Watusie

What is she going to do come 2012 when her looks are completely gone and she has to rely on her “wits” and, even worse: her record?

  • Diomedes

    “puppy-kicking, chain-smoking porn producers”

Is it me, or did she just describe Wasilla?

  • MSheridan

Oldskool, forget Nixon–I flashed on Spiro Agnew when I read this line. Brings back shades of “nattering nabobs of negativism,” doesn’t it?

  • MurrayAbraham

Now that’s rich coming from the helicopter riding moose hunter.

“What is she going to do come 2012 when her looks are completely gone and she has to rely on her “wits” and, even worse: her record?”

There is always another face lift/boob job.

At the rate she is going she will be wearing her nipples as earrings!

  • anniemargret

I think for those Republicans who dislike Palin, and are worried she will end up winning a primary, all they should do and want to see done, is for her to open her mouth.

I’ve said it from day one… Sarah Palin has no class, nor is she articulate or media savvy. While she has been on a scourge against the ‘lamestream’ media, it is they who have made her into what she is now… a farce as some high-minded national or international ‘leader.’

Read her ‘word salads’ and then let her say what she wants when she wants. Then watch what happens. Her patina will fade in due time.

  • CD-Host

You are who your friends are. You can say the same thing about enemies. I love the fact they really hate her. 2010 not being a disaster with a Tea Party splitting off is her work. Rand Paul could be running against Grayson in the general and Conway sliding into an easy victory.

Hopefully at some point she lets her inner Pat Buchanan out and runs on who she really is. If she is just Jeb with less brains and more charisma that’s not worth it. If offers genuine reform, real change, smashing the Republican establishment… I think that’s a winning formula.

  • JeninCT

She has more guts than any other possible GOP candidate.

Good grief, you have now caught the word salad bug. What does that even mean?

  • TerryF98

“She has more guts than any other possible GOP candidate.”

Guess that’s why she has quit every job she has ever had.

  • anniemargret

terry: “Guess that’s why she has quit every job she has ever had..”

And why she hides out in the Foxhole and tweets on Twitter. So much easier than to face the hardball interviews.

Heck, she was like a deer in the headlights when Beck interviewed her!

If she has ‘guts’ we need to start seeing it . Hiding out for almost three years, while lamblasting the ‘lamestream media’ and calling Politico journalists, ‘puppy-kicking chain-smoking porn producers’ …. just points to her lack of class and decorum.

After all, if it wasn’t for the ‘lamestream media’ we wouldn’t be debating this non-serious person at all on the world stage (who by the way, are probably laughing their heads off).

  • anniemargret

The only Republican I can see with any guts at this stage would be Jeb Bush. I actually like the guy – too bad he is from a dynasty. Well -spoken, intelligent and not off the charts extremist, he would be a good choice for the party.

But no! They want Sarah Barracuda… pitbull from Wasilla. Mini-Governor extraordinaire!

Go back to the Palin Word Salads please. Google them…. and then come back and tell me she is qualified to be Leader of the Free World.

Good grief – this country is in a snit and snarky mental disorder. Obama Derangement Syndrome on Steroids.

  • Madeline

Is it me, or did she just describe Wasilla?

If she were describing Wasilla, she would have had to say, “puppy-kicking, chain-smoking porn and meth producers”. And there would be a reference to teen pregnancy and drop outs also too.

  • jakester

“puppy-kicking, chain-smoking porn producers” Sounds like Savage think!

Pat Buchanan ran in 1996 and 2000, and is a father of modern paleo-conservatism. Palin was likely part of the 2000 campaign, and has been instrumental in bringing other paleo groups like John Birch into the republican mainstream. McCain is a leading neocon and so when running with McCain she would have had to hide her paleo leanings. Jeb if a neocon.

I think the rest is pretty clear.

  • Watusie

Jen, I’m sure we’d all be interested in seeing a single example of Palin demonstrating this ferocious courage you say she has.

From where I sit, I see her quitting as soon as the going gets tough and dull; blaming everything that has ever gone wrong on someone else, hiding behind her children (who she uses as props) when convenient; and utterly terrified of speaking to anyone outside the Fox bubble – and even a bit shaky within the bubble.

She is mean. But that ain’t guts. It’s just mean.

  • anniemargret

but Watusie….she has, she has! She’s called CBS ‘corrupt bastards’ and Politico’s journalists ‘homophobe, child-molesting, tax-evading, ‘anti-dentite’, puppy-kicking, chain smokin porn producers~”

wow. I’m so impressed. Aren’t you?

  • anniemargret

Sarah had better be careful. Too much of that ‘lamestream media’ attacking and the lamestream media won’t invite her on their show – at all.

Of course, she will secretly love that, because then she can say that they ‘didn’t invite’ her and then she still stay cocooned at Fox and Twitter and Facebook.

But then she will end up only criticizing while on Fox news….and to her fan base…who will take anything she says or does and call it great.

Not a good thing to happen for anyone who is trying for the Brass Ring.

  • ramrants

You do realize this post proves Palin’s point in how the media operates? She wasn’t calling Politico names, she was demonstrating how they operate. She was pointing out that you can pretty much say whatever you want about someone with little to no accountability because you are anonymous.

Reread what she said. It is clear she was making an example, not calling Politico puppy kicking porn producers. It is very clear in this statement: “I suppose I could play their immature, unprofessional, waste-of-time game, too, by claiming these reporters and politicos are…”

You guys really need some reading comprehension skills…. or maybe lay off the hate. It’s really clouding your ability to think clearly.

Reread it again. Here’s the key passage that clearly identifies that Palin was using an example to make a point.
“Palin also mocked Politico’s use of anonymous sources, saying, “I suppose I could play their immature, unprofessional, waste-of-time game, too, by claiming these reporters and politicos are homophobe, child molesting, tax evading, anti-dentite, puppy-kicking, chain smoking porn producers…really, they are… I’ve seen it myself…but I’ll only give you the information off-the-record, on deep, deep background; attribute these ‘facts’ to an ‘anonymous source’ and I’ll give you more.”

  • ramrants

Anniemargret – I think you have demonstrated why Palin doesn’t do interviews and yet is still relevant. 6 of the 22 comments on here are from you.

She doesn’t need to give interviews. She is still relevant even though most of her communication is through twitter and facebook. It’s people like you who continue to make her relevant. If you don’t want her to be relevant, then stop talking about her.

  • busboy33

    @JeninCT:

Not sure I understand the distinction between “guts” and “obnoxious stupidity”.

What exactly is she brave about?

  • ktward

    Release the bees!

At this hour, there exists no reason to take Palin seriously.
Further, if a consequential majority of her endorsed candidates don’t perform, she’s toast forevermore.

Conversely, if her endorsements prove successful, it’s a new ball game.
(Thus quoth this totally non-sports raven.)

  • anniemargret

ramrants: There should be MORE pushback against Palin, not less. You are kidding, aren’t you?

She has been teasing the American public for almost three years that she wants to be the POTUS. This is a grave, serious, demanding job requiring a grave, serious person willing to give up their own selfish needs and desires and give it their full attention.

Meanwhile, she has been 24/7 on Twitter and Facebook and on Fox throwing barbs and lobs against President Obama, in my opinion, not very respectful, and encouraging more hate and fear. She has been at the epicenter of one of the worst of the egregious lies about HCR – that is, that seniors will have to face ‘death panels.’ Did you click on the Youtube I send in above? Says it all.

She calls the media (not Fox of course), ‘lamestream media’ which she picked up from Rushbo – the all-knowledgeable Maharishi Rushbo with ‘talent from God” and while she’s keeps nitpicking at them, she refuses to allow them to do interviews with her, because she is above all that. Only Fox has her number.

Now she back out there 24/7 saying she will ‘sacrifice’ (her children that is), for the country and run if ‘no one else wants to’ – I guess that means we should be grateful?

And you are complaining that voters like myself are being too unkind to the Barracuda?

Right now, in this morning’s news, she has come out to endorse Tancredo. Tancredo! Of extremist anti-illegal immigrant fame, who says Florida is like a Third World Country. Talk about bombastic ugly race-baiting…a man who refuses to even think about compromising to solve this very serious and very complex problem of illegal immigration.

Palin endorses Tancredo! Good. I think in the next few months, the Palin patina of ‘brilliant’ will start to get a little dull and lifeless around the edges the more we hear her speeches and interviews,, as more people demand she comes out of her Foxhole and be really known to the American public she pretends to adore.

  • jg bennet

Guess who the President & CEO of Politico is….

Frederick J. Ryan, Jr. who was the post-Chief of Staff for former United States President Ronald Reagan (1989–1995), and currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation.

Sarah is a backwater who knows little of facts and can’t handle the truth even when it comes from a true Reaganite.

  • ditka

It is nice that tv star Palin is weighing in on politics. It is kind of like when Chuck Norris endorsed Mike Huckabee, only with alot less substance.

  • jg bennet

i can’t wait until the race for the republican nomination begins, it will be a lot of fun watching chicken little palin get her comeuppance from the likes of jeb bush, karl rove and probably W.

    who is her base?

The top 15 Most Educated States (+DC) and Who They Voted for President in 2008

    100% Obama

The top 15 Least Educated States (+DC) and Who They Voted for President in 2008

    18% Obama
    82% McCain

  • ramrants

Again – you’re still talking about her. You so badly want her to go away, but just can’t help yourself.

Palin isn’t a public official and she isn’t running for office, so why does she have to give interviews to the media? Like I said before, her facebook page and twitter account seem to be serving her well. So as a private citizen, why does she need to give interviews. I have a facebook and twitter account where I have endorsed certain candidates…should I give be required to give an interview to the media?

And why is it that only female politicians are “sacrificing” their children? Don’t male politicians “sacrifice” their children too? I mean, they are a parent, right?

  • anniemargret

ramrants: two points to rebut your comments.

First, men do not go out into the public square and call themselves “Daddy Grizzlies” do they? She has used this ‘Mom ‘O the Year” meme from Day one, capitalizing on her decision not to abort. I give her high marks not to abort, but I don’t give her equal high marks to take that solemn decision away from every woman in America. That’s just arrogance.

Second. She has been on TV, radio, Internet, Youtube, magazines selling herself as the possible POTUS. You know that so don’t pretend otherwise. She likes to tease. If she is not interested at all in running, she can come out now and say so explicitly and then we all can move on and not include her in the running. Then your point would be well taken.

But she has not. She continues to allude to her running….keeping America and her fans either extremely horrified or exhilarated. Of course they helps her with keeping the money flowing in. She’s basically is a celebrity and why she left Alaska and her governorship.

As far as ‘sacrificing’ – ask your average Mom on the street what they are sacrificing for their kids. Real Sacrifice. I have three children, of whom my oldest suffers from a debilitating illness. It takes every ounce of my courage and effort to help him and my other two, especially during the years after my divorce to date. I waited until they were much older to do that, so that I could be ‘there’ for them when they really needed me the most.

I think millions of Moms and Dads, too, do this for their kids. She has made her Mom status the focal point of her celebrity…and many women find it offensive and unnecessary. We do it everyday and much more difficult since we don’t have the the assistance and the money that Sarah has. So for her to make a Big Deal about being ‘Mama Grizzly’ is just absurd.

And yes, people like myself will continue to talk about her, because she is not going away. She is not only not going away, she will work to be in the limelight every chance she gets. And tease about running for the Presidency.

So whats the problem about those of us who dislike her to push back?

  • CentristNYer

“Again – you’re still talking about her. You so badly want her to go away, but just can’t help yourself.”

The problem is that Palin simultaneously fascinates and disgusts. But I think it’s just as much a fascination and disgust with the people who adore her and who willingly overlook her very obvious and voluminous deficiencies. (In fact, it’s her deficiencies that make her more appealing to these folks, not less.)

People like anniemargret and others here (myself included) fixate on her because we’re genuinely horrified that she’s managed to build such a successful career on so little. She’s like every high school girl who used her looks and innate charm to get by — only she’s still coasting on them two years after she was resoundingly defrauded. She’s not smart and doesn’t do her homework. She speaks in bumper sticker generalities, giving few details. She has more enemies than accomplishments. She hides from journalists and expresses faux outrage when they ask her perfectly legitimate questions. She uses her children as props but takes offense when they’re the focus of inquiry. She quit her job as soon as things got tough in Alaska, but chides others to “man up.” She’s brittle, defensive and vindictive. And hypocritical.

What it all comes down to is that we worry about what her success says about America and our celebrity culture, which is willing to not only endure someone of Palin’s limited abilities but promote her. It makes us look stupid as a nation, and for good reason.

Still, I agree with you that it’s time to ignore her and let her go back to Wasilla, tweet her dopey thoughts to her clueless minions and press the political MUTE button whenever she appears. But just understand that while we may wish her to go away, we need to figure out how someone like that came as close to actual power as she did in 2008.

  • ramrants

Anniemargret -You’re problem is not a “push back” against her. You’re problem is your unhealthy obsession of her. I read this forum regularly but don’t usually comment. I have noticed that anytime a posting of Palin is made, it is always the same people obsessing over her.

As for her “teasing” about running for POTUS…how is what she is doing any different than Romney, Huckabee, Bloomberg, etc? They haven’t announced formally if they are running for POTUS in 2012. Why not the insistence of them announcing and stop “teasing” everyone? Why the different set of standards for Palin?

As for her being all over the media selling herself as running for POTUS…didn’t your first posting I responded to talk about how she refuses to give interviews? She doesn’t give interviews, so how can she be putting herself out there as “teasing” people? I understand Palin is all over the media, but it is not her decision to be all over the media. It is the media’s decision to continue to talk about her and make her relevant.

I will use this website as an example…..the front page of FrumForum has 5 (count them- 5) postings about Palin (and one about her daughter). You don’t think that’s a little obsessive? And Palin didn’t put herself on the front page of FrumForum 5 times; she didn’t give any interviews to FrumForum; she didn’t pose for any pictures for FrumForum to print. The editors of FrumForum made that decision. And my question to you is, if you are so sick of hearing about her than why do you read this site and why do you obsessively comment about Palin in the comments section?

As for using her “Mom” status to run on, explain to me how this is different than 1992 being called the “Year of the Woman”? All those women who won ran on “mom in tennis shoes”, and “soccer mom”, “PTA mom”, etc. Did you have a problem with those women “sacrificing’ their kids? These women, like Palin, made different decisions in their life than you did. Are they bad mothers, too? Many of those women are still serving and their children are grown by now. What harm did they endure by their mother running for public office?

Your complaints of Palin only seem to apply to Palin. You don’t appear to have a problem with anyone else who does the same things she does. You’re criticism of her isn’t some objective view, it is some sort of unhealthy obsession over someone you don’t even know personally.

You’re opinion is your opinion; if you don’t like the woman, you don’t like her. I’m just saying my opinion is your judgment of Palin is totally irrational.

  • Diomedes

“The problem is that Palin simultaneously fascinates and disgusts”

To me, it’s actually more comical than anything. I am not threatened by her in any way since I know she is completely unqualified and unelectable. People tune in to listen to Sarah Palin for the same reason they watch Jersey Shore. It’s not the profound wisdom or the seriousness of the show that is the draw, it’s the spectacle.

Personally, I hope she stays in the public eye and I actually hope she does try to run during the primaries. Because I know that will be a form of free comedy that is not likely to be repeated in the political arena in my lifetime. It will be another Christine O’Donnell except at a higher office.

  • greg_barton

ramrants, it seems you have an unhealthy obsession with anniemargret, silently reading all of her posts and noting when she comments on Palin. That’s sinister and more than a little bit unhinged.

  • CentristNYer

    Diomedes // Nov 2, 2010 at 1:20 pm

“I am not threatened by her in any way since I know she is completely unqualified and unelectable.”

I really hope you’re right about that unelectable part. I think you are, but just looking at some of the half-wits who are about to get carried into office — Sharron Angle being top of mind — is not comforting. It makes you wonder what chain of events could occur that might pave the way for Caribou Barbie to be similarly elevated.

For what it’s worth, I’m almost alone in thinking that she has no plans to run for president. I don’t see her giving up her very easy, very lucrative gig just so that she can get her hands dirty. She’s doing much better sitting on the sidelines, collecting her royalty checks and playing on facebook.

  • ramrants

Greg- noticing that the same people making the same comments on every Palin post hardly qualifies as sinister and unhinged. I just don’t comment every time I read their comments.

I don’t think sinister and unhinged means what you think it means.

  • Diomedes

    CentristNYer:

The Sharron Angle/Harry Reid Senate Race should not be something that signifies a broader trend across the country. You have to remember that a good portion of folks voting for Angle are doing so as a vote against Harry Reid more than anything else.
Remember that Nevada has 14% unemployment and is virtually ground zero for the housing problems. Couple that with Harry’s perceived accommodation of the Wall Street types and his stance on immigration, leads to the situation you are seeing.

Now there is a possibility that things will limp along in the economy until 2012 and unemployment stays high. That should cause Obama concern. But in any case, I just cannot see Caribou Barbie as you call her, ever emerging from the primaries. She has been handled with kid gloves up to this point. Even the so-called debate against Biden, he did not even come close to bringing any sort of tangible attack to the forefront, probably due to the democrats concern for losing the women vote after Hillary did not get the nomination.
I think in any primary, there would be so many O’Donnell type moments from Sarah, that she would fall out of the race early on.

But in the end, I think the biggest thing that will prevent Sarah from higher office is Sarah herself. This is not a woman who wants to work hard. Look at her background. Bounced through 6 different colleges to finally emerge with a degree in sports journalism. Mayer of a town with a population that could fit in an average size mall. And finally, her 2 year tenure as governor demonstrate that she just walks the walk, but doesn’t talk the talk. So I see her playing the victim and continuing to fuel the false outrage for the next two years, milking the rubes into buying more of her ghostwritten books and paying for her speaking engagements. But in the end, she will make up some feeble excuse to avoid actually entering the primaries, probably blaming it on the ‘lame street media’ and those far right San Francisco liberals. If it is one thing that Sarah does well is market Sarah. And that is her entire claim to fame. She is the Paris Hilton of the political arena.

  • CentristNYer

    Diomedes:

All fair points and I share your general belief that Palin not only can’t get elected but doesn’t have the will to even try. But my concern comes from this: Angle was written off, too, a few months ago. No one gave her a chance and yet here we are on election day talking about her likely victory.

Yes, Nevada is a bit of an anomaly, but you’ve got other tea party favorites who also look like they’re coasting to victory tonight, including in swing states like Florida, Colorado, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. These are places that Obama needed in order to win in 2008 and if they’re suddenly more hospitable to dummies and ideologues, then Palin just might have a shot.

Look — I remain hopeful that there are enough obstacles out there to keep her a safe distance from the White House, but this election cycle has not confirmed my confidence in the long term memory of the average American voter.
