The definition of a failed state is one which loses control of a significant part of one of its regions. Therefore India qualifies as a failed state due to its Failures to address the grievances of its citizens in the said provinces.

First, you are talking about (and totally misremembering) the Concert for Bangladesh on August 1, 1971. That event did NOT mention Vietnam, not even once. It DID feature an entire introduction by Bengali artists like Ravi Shankar, who played Bengali music, as well as a new composition by George Harrison entitled “Bangla Desh”.

Second, you perhaps have never latched onto the fact that the U.S. (Nixon and Kissinger) were on the side of PAKISTAN during the war–mainly because they hated Indira Gandhi (whom Nixon privately referred to as “that bitch”) and were in the process of sucking up to her enemy, Mao–and that it was entirely the “left” which was on the side of Bangla Desh.

Third, “jihadist slaughter”? Evidently anything done by any Muslim at any time is “jihadist” in your curious little world. It’s beginning to remind me of something a guest said to Joe Scarborough back in 2004: “I’m a liberal and I had pasta for dinner tonight–does that make it ‘liberal pasta’? Or is it just dinner?” People in power do not commonly relinquish control of that power if they have a choice. Governments do not commonly allow parts of their country to secede if they have a choice (q.v. Lord North, Abraham Lincoln, Boris Yeltsin, Slobodan Milosevic, etc.) Neither did Yahya Khan. What a shock!
