Bulldoglover100: The way the GOP can fix all that, is by walking the walk, not just talking the talk. It's off to a good start with its principled opposition to Obama's stimulus bill. Events haven't yet given the GOP the opportunity to actually do anything about foreign and military policy. That may happen later, as it did with Jimmy Carter's Panama Canal and SALT II treaties. We'll see how both Obama and the GOP respond to any new provocations from Iran or North Korea or Russia. I hope the GOP does not call for a pre-emptive war again. Eschewing the notion of pre-emptive war that is based solely on intelligence data and educated guesses, would show that the GOP is ready to take a new, non-Bush, direction in foreign policy.

David.......While I think your comments are right on target the problems becomes too little too late with this argument and opens the door to charges of....not sure but not something I would want to be associated with....you say, " No to massive spending commitments years into the future."...all well and good but the counter would be "The last 8 years and the war in Itaq".........You say "No to any new entitlements"...and again I think of Palin and so many other GOP members from the last 8 years..... You say. " Try to keep the GDP-debt ratio relatively constant over the next half decade"....and I have to wonder where these fiscal ideas were for the last 8 years? I am not saying the Dems are not guilty but how can we, or you for that matter, come out and register a gripe regarding our President when our own hands are sooooo dirty?
I am surprised that your taking this route? Unless of course your giving in to those on this site that do not want to do things in such a way as to move away from the days of old of the GOP?
