The Associated Press reports:
President Barack Obama says his wife and daughters aren’t “invested” in him being president and would have been fine had he decided against running for re-election.
But he says they believe in what he’s doing for the country.
Asked about his family’s reaction to his wanting another term, Obama said: “Michelle and the kids are wonderful in that if I said, `You know, guys, I want to do something different,’ They’d be fine. They’re not invested in daddy being president or my husband being president.”

The President’s wife and children think he’s A-ok even if he’s not the President. Why even put this out there? Wait, wait-don’t tell me.
The right wing will turn this into Michelle telling Barack she’s filing for divorce if he runs for a second term; into the girls being suicidal at the mere idea of having to spend four more years in the White House. Chaos on Pennsylvania Avenue, all because Obama is a power-hungry man who doesn’t care one whit about his family.
The President has more “family values” than all the GOP hypocrites put together.
Love him or hate, he has a beautiful family. They just look so happy together!
If the President really was going to be a one-termer from the beginning, I think he would’ve done things a bit differently than he did.
Agree. The family is lovely.
Yes, nice happy family. Why are his kids going to a 97% white private school instead of city schools?
Answer: to protect them from the violent fatherless D.C. welfare thugs that Democrat policies created.
stupid
Typical modest, self deprecating (and shrewd) comment from the president. This guy will be very hard to beat next year.
Let’s hope he means it, http://blewstate.net/2011/06/14/jimmy-carter-redux-ok-with-being-one-termer/
Hey Smarg!
Same reason that most of the other Presidents (GOP or Dem) went to private school. Safer for both the President’s kids and the other school children to send them to a place that is best prepared to protect them and work with the Secret Service.
Indeed. Sidwell Friends had already had one student who was a presidential daughter in Chelsea Clinton; they knew how to handle the situation.
