I respect Mr. Gingrich’s opinion on many things and admire him in general. However, he most assuredly is on the wrong side of this argument. So if I understand his point correctly, we are to accept a liberal in place of a real conservative so that the Republican party can “take back Congress”. I for one do not wish success to a party that is willing to sacrifice principles so that they can add an “R” next to the name of the representative. Mr. Hoffman likely would vote in most things as a true conservative and would be a strong supporter of the Republican positions. Could the same be said for Ms. Scozzafava? I doubt it. She would be more like Senator Snowe, Senator Spector, Senator Graham, Senator McCain (please forgive my lack of familiarity Rino’s in the lower house). Gingrich should back Mr. Hoffman and help him win rather than subvert him. I most strenuously disagree with ireign. I would rather lose a congressional district than compromise for more of the same old, same old. That the power brokers seek to impose such a candidate is a disgrace.

The latest poll seems to be putting the Democrat in first place in a district that is traditionally strongly Republican! Hoffman is in third place. This election is going to be an embarrassment for the angry right. It will only bolster the notion that the angry right is a fringe group incapable of viable political organizing.
