ottovbs:
where does this leave the likes of Fiorina

The California primaries are open. Independents can vote in GOP primaries there.

So by reaching out to Independents, Fiorina could still fend off the challenge from DeVore, who will have to rely on votes from the conservative base.

The issue then becomes: If Fiorina beats DeVore in the GOP primary by relying on the votes of Independents, will the conservatives then close ranks behind her and work to elect her in the general? Or will they stalk away in a huff?

I think that if Fiorina beats DeVore, the RedStaters will still vote for Fiorina in the general. Unfortunately, Michelle Malkin's TeaPartiers won't.

........You only have to read the spin from the right to recognize there are going to be many more Hoffmans........The NRSCC has already essentially caved by saying it won't support their candidates in primaries.....where does this leave the likes of Fiorina
