For years libel laws have been misused by anyone who gets annoyed with someone nipping at their heels. Recall a few years ago when agribusiness tried to shut down criticism of food and how it is grown and processed? They even tried to pass livestock libel laws. I seem to recall that they passed in a few states, although they were probably shot down in Federal court. Now there is an issue of nuisance law suits in general (not just libel) and how they should be curbed. This isn’t particularly new (or even invented by American Muslims).
