I just listened to a rather lengthy report on Honduras and the ouster of Manuel Zelaya.

Here are some issues:

It is a little hard to understand how The Congressional Research Service can talk about the process being in accordance with the Honduran legal system when the guy was picked up in his jammies at his home to be put straight on a plane. Doesn't sound very legal to me. It doesn't help that this was carried out by two military officers who are graduates of the School Of The Americas.

How can we not call this a coup, when that is exactly what it was?

Excellent piece. I would also like to point out the discrepancy within the US position. The State Department has apparently ignored in its entirety the legal analysis presented by the Congressional Research Service on the Constitutional aspects of Zelaya's deposition...

A quote from the report:

"Available sources indicate that the judicial and legislative branches applied constitutional
and statutory law in the case against President Zelaya in a manner that was judged by the
Honduran authorities from both branches of the government to be in accordance with the
Honduran legal system."
