University of Connecticut College Republicans produce this damning video satirizing President Obama’s bow to the Japanese emperor – funny and maddening all at once.

Hate to agree with Teabag but when you’re right you’re right. Bush was a Saudi sycophant no doubt.

Still, why is it that the only defense you seem to have is to attack Bush? Seriously man. It gets old.

“Maddening”? That’s the kind of nonsense I expect to come out of Limbaugh’s and Hewitt’s mouths. After the elections earlier this month showing independents voting for Republicans, this whole absurd and idiotic conservative response to bow-gate is simply reminding independents why they voted against conservatives in the first place in ‘06 and ‘08. I’m shocked that David Frum fell for this substance-less, insipid, meritless, Palinesque garbage.

I don’t think there’s much “there” in Obama doing a courtly bow before the Emperor… even if the CT College Reps take a fun-loving swipe at the Obama. And of course, there’s not much “there” in any of the hate-filled spite that our Village Troll, TeaBag, writes. He truly deserves our pity for the shame he visits on all.

I do think there is some “there” if Obama turns this very low-expectations Asian Apology Tour into something other than the intended and State Dept-approved script at APEC.

Like if his tourism card includes a side trip to one of the more radical Islamic madrassa schools in Singapore… I can imagine the Obama offering to do the call to morning prayers in a perfect Indonesian muslim pitch that he’s never forgotten, even if he turned his back on his first religion, Islam. That would be a really bad move on his part… and a PR nightmare for the embattled and fast-folding White House Office of Communications… losing the War on Rush hurt them, then losing the War on Fox and the War on Medicine hurt even more… losing to Dick Cheney twice on two different issues near-n-dear to the far Left base didn’t help, either.

But then, who would have thought the Obama would dither away the summer and fall while our soldiers are dying from a lack of adequate support and supply? NATO’s efforts in Afghanistan are severly hampered while our SandBox Prez dithers with some tonka toy trucks the girls left behind years ago.

Let ‘em bow, as low as he wants. The Obama and far Left feel they have a lot of apologizing to do to the world… just like the far Left radicals after VietNam. Let ‘em bow; it beats Al Gore’s earlier scam of trying to beat campaign contributions out of monks.

teabag, Bush’s embarrassing behavior somehow validates President Obeisance’s bend-over? How?

  • 5 Arch // Nov 17, 2009 at 1:43 pm

I agree with MI-GOPer (!?!) There are much bigger fish to fry (and David dressses well).

I agree there’s not much there. Besides, this won’t stick to Obama, because it conflicts with the meme that Obama is arrogant or narcissistic.

I obviously hit a raw nerve here… Frum’s combover is so obvious it stands out a mile. I’m not being nasty just stating facts. If you can’t stand the blow get out of the wind. Or do as all chickehawk conservatives do. Whine,Whine,Whine

    man, massive heaps of silly!

first, Obama probably did bow too much. BFD. He was bowing to a munchkin, and it probably didn’t occur to him to stop until he started to get eye to eye. It really doesn’t matter.

second, Bush’s transgressions on this count are past. They’re also wholly unrelated to this. Both the Bandar kiss and the Merkel grope were examples of over-familiarism. This was lack of preparation. Personally, it doesn’t bother me that a substantial part of Obama’s prep didn’t include “how low is it appropriate to bow”, but ymmv.

third, while the Joe Kline and David Frum pics to the right as I type might be an example of dueling hairlines … again, bfd. If Frum starts hacking on people for their own grooming, this might come into play. But otherwise the comment looks worse for the commentor than anything.

Teabag. Who cares? It’s mindlessly malicious to chide him for something so superficial and unimportant. I doubt he cares but it lowers the quality of discussion here.

Mindless and malicious is how I would characterize 90% of the commentary on Obama from the Right wing-nuts both here and elsewhere. As I said upthread You guys can dish it out but you sure can’t take it.

This is such a surprisingly stupid discussion. Japanese don’t normally shake hands. Both are trying to do what the other culture normally does. I’ m not an Obama supporter at all but on this I come to his defense.

If anything, this shows how innorant and arogant Americans are. Pathetic and embarrassing.

As a gay conservative, I watched my fellow gay friends –of whom, 85% are solid, dyed-in-the-wool, hardcore partisan Democrats– make up protest posters showing Geo Bush kissing the Saudi king just like our TeaBag Troll points out in Comment 1 of this thread. I also watched my gay friends make up posters showing Karl Rove getting barebacked by Dick Cheney and, hard as this is to believe, my friends carried those and other similar signs down Constitution Avenue in DC protesting the liberation of Iraq.

Didn’t matter that Cheney is one of the most progressive GOP leaders on gay rights and gay marriage (“I always thought that freedom means freedom for all”).

Didn’t matter that as gay Democrats, they were using specific gender-bigoted images to slam their opponents… as if, these gay Democrat activists were saying to the viewer: nothing could be worse, more loathsome, more corrupt, more immoral than engaging in gay sexual conduct.

It’s staggering. Gays using gay acts to demean their opponents? To show their disgust for political enemies they present them as being gay? Just like TeaBag does above.

Alice in Wonderland has captured TeaBag and made him King for the Day… not just our Village Idiot. King for the Day in Wonderland.

Bravo on your newest accomplishment, TeaBag. It may be the highest you get this year.

    MI-GOPer:

Gays using gay acts to demean their opponents? To show their disgust for political enemies they present them as being gay? Just like TeaBag does above.

    There’s your answer.

It wasn’t GAYS using gay acts to demean their opponents.
It was LEFTISTS using gay acts (and all manner of genuine obscenity, which gay acts are not) to demean their opponents.

The use of boorishness and anti-social behavior as a political tool was popularized by the New Left in the 1960s, following faithfully the playbook of Antonio Gramsci early in the 20th century. It’s just that the gay liberation movement was part of that New Left movement.

sinz54, I was there guy. I watched my fellow gay activists hold those hand-made signs that berated Rove, Cheney and Bush by portraying them engaged in gay acts… as if, that’s the worst thing that someone can say about a man. “OMG, he’s gay!”

They were gay activists working hard inside the Democrat Party. You see them as leftists first? I don’t know about that… I see them as gay activists.

By the way, I saw those same signs each year at the Annual Easter Egg Roll at the WH… gay democrat activists wanted to take that occasion and protest that they weren’t allowed to marry and adopt (lie) and bring their children (lie #2) to the Easter Egg Roll by the “fascist” GOP Administration (lie #3) . Talk about the wrong place to protest –but it didn’t matter to those gay activists… they wanted to make the parents and observers feel uncomfortable… much like some of the democrat trolls here do on a daily basis.

You see some of that as leftist? I’m sorry, I know they are gay democrat activists first and foremost.
