I think young Jeb meant “coup” instead of “coup d’etat”. Although a Republican winning Obama’s former Senate seat might qualify as a coup d’etat, or at least a coup d’machine.

if the democrat party machine and cook county especially, can be held to more than maybe 7-9% vote fraud in this election, then congressman kirk has an excellent chance to knock off the pro-corruption, mob-tainted Alexi Giannoulias… who makes snake oil salesmen grin with professional pride.

rollcall, rasmussen and other credible pollsters have the race at a dead heat at this point. that simply means that both leading candidates have their base in order.

the telling part and it should really worry the democrats? independents are breaking for congressman kirk 52-23%. that’s almost 2 for 1. that’s disaster for the democrats.

I don’t think we’ll see anyone getting behind a primary challenger to Kirk because those resources are flowing towards Florida, where the likely Democratic candidate is not as strong as Giannoulias.

A primary challenge that would force Kirk to run to the right to secure the nomination could lead these voters to think twice about voting for the GOP in the general election and jeopardize what could be an enormous coup d’état for Republicans.

You do know that a coup d’état is a BAD thing?
