ABC News reports:

On Good Morning America, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs told George Stephanopoulos that former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, R-Ga., in a recent interview was “trying to appeal to the fringe of people who don’t think the president was born in this country.”

Gibbs was responding to an interview Gingrich gave National Review Online’s Robert Costa over the weekend in which he asked “what if (the president) is so outside our comprehension, that only if you understand Kenyan, anti-colonial behavior, can you begin to piece together (his actions)?”

“That is the most accurate, predictive model for his behavior,” Gingrich said. “This is a person who is fundamentally out of touch with how the world works, who happened to have played a wonderful con, as a result of which he is now president.”

No one is more out of touch with how the world works than Newt. He is deep into a very obviously racist Obama Derangement Syndrome (ODS). I use to actually respect the guy, many years ago.

Robert Gibbs [said] that former House Speaker Newt Gingrich was “trying to appeal to the fringe of people who don’t think the president was born in this country.”

    Gibbs states the obvious.

On principle, I’m generally compelled to deride staters-of-the-obvious.
But I can — and am happy to — make an exception.
