We had so much fun reading the entries for contest #1, that we’ve decided to try a second.
Our first contest was based on a game invented by Eli Lake and Noah Pollak; this next is a game long played by Christopher Hitchens and Salman Rushdie.
The assignment: Take the title of a famous book, and change one word in a way that utterly extinguishes the book’s appeal.
Examples: “A Farewell to Arms” becomes “A Farewell to Weapons.”
“For Whom the Bell Tolls” becomes “For Whom the Bell Rings.”
“I, Claudius,” becomes “I, Keith.”
“Valley of the Dolls” – “Valley of the Figurines.”
“Farewell My Lovely,” becomes “Farewell My Sweetie.”
And so on.
Same system as last: entries will be judged by the FrumForum staff. The three best entrants will receive a signed copy of “Hitch-22″ plus one of our famous FrumForum “Who are You Calling a RINO?” t-shirts.
