Bolling and Cuccinelli's poll numbers have been very similar to McDonnell's.

As for redistricting the New York 23rd, it is a very large district physically and isolated in the far north. Whoever wins the special and the 2010 election will be in a position of some strength when redistricting occurs in 2011, especially if Rudy Guiliani is elected governor in 2010 and Hoffman is the incumbent. Large chunks of the 23rd will go with the incumbent no matter what district it is attached to.

Cucinelli's fate in next election for governor is dependent upon McDonnells performance during his term as governor. If McDonnell performs (transportation, jobs, economy), then Cucinelli will benefit. If McDonnell does not perform Cucinelli has no chance.
