You have got to be kidding me!

I live in the SF Bay area, and Campbell is notorious here for his hostility to Israel and his friendly relations with Israel-bashers. Here's one small example: Campbell endorses the presentations of one Alison Weir, a vicious local anti-Israel activist who specializes in demonizing the Jewish state. Check out Campbell's blurb on Weir's "If Americans Knew" web site:

“Ms. Weir presents a powerful, well documented view of the Middle East today. She is intelligent, careful, and critical. American policy makers would benefit greatly from hearing her first-hand observations and attempting to answer the questions she poses.”
Tom Campbell,
Former Congressman and Dean of Haas School of Business

The "whispering campaign" (ooh, sounds sneaky) that Frum speaks of is simply people passing along what is well-known among the local pro-Israel community. Frum is seriously out of touch if he thinks that Campbell is pro-Israel.

This is all really very interesting. What does it matter if Campbell is bad or good on a foreign country? Shouldn't the question be whether he is bad or good for the country he actually represents?
