You have got to be kidding me!

I live in the SF Bay area, and Campbell is notorious here for his hostility to Israel and his friendly relations with Israel-bashers. Here’s one small example: Campbell endorses the presentations of one Alison Weir, a vicious local anti-Israel activist who specializes in demonizing the Jewish state. Check out Campbell’s blurb on Weir’s “If Americans Knew” web site:

“Ms. Weir presents a powerful, well documented view of the Middle East today. She is intelligent, careful, and critical. American policy makers would benefit greatly from hearing her first-hand observations and attempting to answer the questions she poses.”

The “whispering campaign” (ooh, sounds sneaky) that Frum speaks of is simply people passing along what is well-known among the local pro-Israel community. Frum is seriously out of touch if he thinks that Campbell is pro-Israel.

This is all really very interesting. What does it matter if Campbell is bad or good on a foreign country? Shouldn’t the question be whether he is bad or good for the country he actually represents?
