My friend Seth Leibsohn, producer of Bill Bennett’s “Morning in America,” sends a photo of his new Brittany spaniel, Dagny.
This inspires a thought: In these tough recessionary days, what this country needs is a photo montage of conservatives and their dogs. I’ll be inviting some names in the news to send their photos of themselves with their canine friends, but let me also invite interested FF readers to submit your own, to run in this column over the coming days.

Seth Leibsohn and Dagny

Christopher Buckley's Jake

Peter Worthington's Murphy, after Murphy was gored by a pit bull

Reader T.B. Root, Self-portrait with his chihuahua mix, Alice

Matthew Scully with the late Herbie, rescued November 2005, died January 2008

Laura Ingraham & Lucy (who's begging for tax relief)

Lemuel Toro's Peanut, a dog whose conservative credentials are unquestioned

Barbara Amiel Black with her two Kuvasz dogs, Jonas and Maya, scooped poop in hand

Vince Kelley with his Vizsla Zoomy – Named by Donna Kelley, proud Air Force veteran and mom, after the service she loves

Rob Sisson of Republicans for Environmental Protection and his eco-retriever, Lily

Lauren Johnson and her Texas Heeler, Landry, who loves life, liberty and the Dallas Cowboys

Vicki Webster's Perry, who knows that conservation is conservative.

Sean Linnane's Jack Russell Tiny, a hunter of moles and killer of possums

Brad Smith and his Bernese Mountain Dog, Buckley

Seth named his dog “Dagny”? After Dagny Taggart, perhaps?

In the spirit of big tent inclusion, maybe you should include felines.

Is this just a monumental lack of new material, or is this actually part of your New Majority coalition building strategy?

escapevelocity: 39% of Americans own at least one dog. It’s a large enough group–but I doubt it votes as a bloc.

what about conservatives and their cats? meoooww….
10 Observer // Sep 8, 2009 at 10:38 pm
Conservatives with cats aren’t really conservatives at all. (People with cats aren’t really people at all)
Incidentally, hilarious as it may seem, I actually think the idea of showing conservatives as vaguely friendly human beings who do something other than bash the government is brilliant, and necessary. Because most of the conservatives I know don’t come across as human beings capable of petting a dog anymore. LOL
Next stop… can conservatives cook?

Observer, bite your tongue. In addition to my dog I have not one, but 2 cats. One of which is on my lap at this moment and does not think very highly of you right now.
Actually, I think we should move onto college football since the season has started. Let’s see if we can maintain civility once we open that one up.

Come, come, Observer, you have to admit that cats are conservative – self-reliant, tough-minded, and not ones to suffer fools in the household.
I agree with ltoro1. Let’s talk college football: Go UW Huskies!

This page is nice, but frankly it’s a cheap knockoff of Mark Levin’s far more expansive “Mark’s Dog Corner”, where he has thousands more pictures, stories, etc. Check it out:
