Boehner: Dem Tax Bill “Chicken Crap”

Politico reports:

Why don’t you tell us what you really think? Mr. Incoming Speaker.

On Wednesday, John Boehner (R-Ohio) said House Democrats were playing political games for forcing a vote on extending the lower- and middle-income tax rates while Obama administration officials were huddling with House and Senate lawmakers. On Thursday, Boehner took it a step further.

“I’m trying to catch my breath so I don’t refer to this maneuver going on today as chicken crap, all right?” Boehner told reporters in the Capitol Thursday. “But this is nonsense. All right? The election was one month ago. We’re 23 months from the next election, and the political games have already started, trying to set up the next election. We had an honest conversation at the White House about the challenges that we face to get out of here and to take care of what the American people expect of us. And they roll this vote out today; it really is just what you think I was going to say anyway.”

Boehner is colorful, to say the least, and often finds ways to get in jabs of reporters and staff. Just today, he ribbed Utah Rep. Rob Bishop, who wore a three-piece, pinstriped suit.

“I told Mr. Bishop on the way in that just because he inherited a suit from his grandfather didn’t mean he had to wear it,” Boehner said. “But his hair looks good.”

But quips aside, his remarks illustrate the Republican view on the Democrats’ tax vote Thursday.

    LOL

Now all we need is for Biden to retort by saying Boehner is full of ‘malarky’.

    Did he burst into tears?

    “Did he burst into tears?”

Actually, he burst into a boner.

A blind Rabbi was there, thought it was a hanukka candle which he tried to light after reciting the prayers. Someone threw a bucket of water on Boehner and all his Man Tan washed off. He melted like the wicked witch in the ‘Wizard of Oz’. A couple of flying monkeys showed up and took his wallet and his Rolex.

    I will cherish that image!

Run the same play tomorrow but this time make it on the unemployment insurance extension.

Good times. The next 2 years are going to be interesting.

As a serious question, can the Senate now pass the House tax-cut-extension under reconciliation next year? Would be karmic retribution if the tax cuts can be targeted towards the middle class through reconciliation, as the whole package was passed under reconciliation back in ’01.

Why does Boehner hate the middle class?

Chicken shit is pushing a totally mythical, fully failed policy over and over again as a job-creating program. Who doesn’t like the sound of “pay less”? But how about doing something that’s good for working people for once? Tax cuts…they don’t produce jobs. The rich get richer, the working class stagnates. Look at the last 10 years, Boner. How did your precious tax cuts do? At best 3M jobs under Bush, 24M under Clinton who did what? Oh yeah, RAISED taxes on the wealthy.

Not to mention adding to the debt, fiscal conservatives my left foot…that’s another Republican canard. You have to go back to Nixon (*first term) to find a Republican president who didn’t blow up the debt. Democrats? Not one Democratic president since Roosevelt/Truman has added to the debt in terms of % of GDP.

What else you got GOP? Nothing, that’s what.

Boehner has worked himself into a corner on this one, and it is gonna be fun to watch what happens. As if someone that makes $20 million a year is gonna miss an extra $10,000 in taxes, please! Anyone with a brain realizes the more money you make, the less you notice a tax burden. The rich really did a good job with the Bush Tax Cuts, the got together with their rich banker friends and came up with some really nice gambling applications to play with that extra money in the mortgage market, credit default swaps (illegal bets on the markets), etc. that eventually brought down the US economy and almost brought down the economy of the entire planet.

I don’t see why Boehner can legitimately call this “chicken crap”. It’s not politics. The Dems have been saying for months that this is what they wanted to do. Why Nancy and Steny waited until now, rather than 2 months ago, I have no idea … but the Dems laid down a marker that they wanted to extend the middle class tax cuts long long ago.

Let’s see if Reid has the guts to force the GOP to publicly filibuster, now.

Just for grins, here is what some of the “super rich” have to say about taxes:

Good for the Iron Lady Pelosi … extending tax cuts on everyone’s income up to $250K …
