Huffington Post reports:
Glenn Beck said that President Obama’s speech at the memorial for the victims of the Arizona shooting was “the best speech he has ever given.”
Speaking on his radio show Thursday, Beck had one caveat: Obama should have made his speech earlier.
“Last night, the president said what he should have said on Saturday,” Beck said. “A leader says that on Day 1. But it is truly better late than never. This is probably the best speech he has ever given, and with all sincerity, thank you Mr. President, for becoming the president of the United States of America last night.”

Credit where credit is due.
When the man who signs your paycheck sends a very clear message, most people will acquiescence.
It’s not like Beck has become “enlightened”, just ordered.
Ailes Tells Fox Anchors to ‘Tone It Down’
“I told all of our guys, shut up, tone it down, make your argument intellectually,” Mr. Ailes said. “You don’t have to do it with bombast.”
COProgressive, it seems to me that if Glenn Beck can rise to the occasion and show a little class, so can we. Give him credit for doing the right thing, instead of just contributing to the negative atmosphere.
I don’t usually watch Beck. I am no a fan and believe that he is one of the purveyors of extremism. HOWEVER, if I am permitted to criticize, I also have an obligation as a moderate to praise when praise is due. So, good on him. Beck apparently was sincere in his compliment. Give him points for taking the high road and right road.
Credit where credit is due, good move Beck.
I watch Beck regularly and I’m not surprised at all that he complimented Obama on the speech. Beck is a very reasonable, thoughtful guy if you listen to him and not those who talk about him.
Cudos to those of you who gave him due credit today.
Whether ordered to or not, he could easily – like Sarah Palin, another Faux employee, have “gone rogue”. He could have ignored it entirely. I think he’s a buffoon, albeit a wealthy one – but that doesn’t mean he can’t do a good thing, or have a good point, now and again.
I really disliked the actions of the previous administration, but aside from disagreeing with his policies, I have nothing but praise for the class and conduct of Bush since leaving office. He has conducted himself the way a past President ought.
um…I give him partial credit.
“This is probably the best speech he has ever given, and with all sincerity, thank you Mr. President, for becoming the president of the United States of America last night” For becoming? He has been President for 2 years, he didn’t just become President. If he said for “saying words worthy of a President (or being President, or the President, whatever)”
it would have worked a little better. It would have meant the same thing without the logical inconsistency of denying the reality of the last 2 years. He could also said “words becoming of the”
So partial credit, good intention, faulty logic.
There has to be something else to this.
Thanks, Glenn.
Wish he could have said this without the “But Monkey” (aptly coined by another conservative talker, Laura Ingraham), as it just reminds me that he and his ilk will take any opportunity to turn a positive into a negative. If the President had come out the very first day with comments like this, Beck would have accused him of trying to score political points from a tragedy. “The bodies aren’t even cold yet, and Obama is…” Fill in the blank. The President could solve world hunger tomorrow and Beck and Co. would still find a way to give him a slam disguised as a backhanded compliment.
Nevertheless, B plus for effort, D minus for the inevitable twist.
