The war ends exactly the way wars between politicians and media organizations always end: with the politician’s capitulation.
This outcome confirms the theory that there was no Obama masterplan, just a careless slip by a White House communications director that escalated out of control.

“Independent” says:
i’m thinking blankhead is the perfect name to post replies to your uninformed, highly partisan, comments.
You are as partisan as Mi-Gopher. I’ve read nothing from you that shows you are an independent.

Mi-Gopher says:
The majority of viewers of those programs –who, on the Fox side are made up of conservatives, liberals, Democrats, Republicans and Independents in near equal measure– think there’s something that DOES RING TRUE in the newscasts and shows on the programs independent identified. That’s why they watch… not to be validated, they watch to hear the news presented fairly, accurately, without the usual MSM spin and bias.
You can’t be serious. You honestly think Fox New’s opinion programming presents issues fairly, accurately, and without the usual MSM spin and bias? Seriously.

I think there is a misunderstanding about what Fox is all about. Year after year, the highest rated genre on basic cable television is professional wrestling. So the Fox prime time schedule is like wrestling – fill the air with people shouting, belittling, jeering, even crying. And, as the ratings for both Fox and wrestling show, it is a formula that works. There is no question that Fox is entertaining even if you are not a conservative. CNN, by contrast, can cure insomnia. MSNBC has learned from Fox, which is why it has gotten louder and more boisterous, and also sees higher ratings.
There is also a difference in the area of news gathering. CNN has a budget of some $300 million, most of which is spent staffing bureaus around the world, while Fox has a budget of some $80 million, most of which is spent in the studio on high priced talent. You’re not going to find Fox reporters based in Brussels reporting on the activities of the European Union. Here’s a test – check out stories at cnn.com and see under who’s byline the stories are written. The bulk are written by CNN reporters. At fox.com, by comparison, most of the stories are reprints from AP. CNN is a news gathering organization, Fox is a news aggregator.
Of course, the demographics for CNN differ greatly (higher income and higher levels of education), which is why on Fox you’ll see lot of ads for beer and pickup trucks, while CNN has ads for TD Waterhouse and the like.
Wrestling still does better than all three news channels combined. There’s a message in there somewhere…
