Hamas won the election comfortably but were essentially displaced in a downward coup. If the election was run again tomorrow they would win decisively in both Gaza and the West Bank and I have this info from a couple of Israeli contacts who both believe ultimately Israel is going to negotiate with Hamas. Fatah is done. As for this guy Fayyad forget it. Not really. Hamas won the election comfortably but were essentially displaced in a downward coup.
