This business of throwing pies in the faces of politicians to make a political point is not a joke. The groups who engage are also implicitly boasting of their ability to assassinate if they so wished. Fisheries minister Gail Shea is right to call this assault a “terrorist act.” It ain’t 9/11, obviously, but it’s nonetheless meant to terrorize. Under Canadian law, assault without a weapon is punishable by up to 5 years in prison.
Here’s hoping that the pie-thrower serves at least a portion of such a sentence.

I really hope there’s some attempt at ironic, illustrative humor at work here intended to demonstrate inconsistency when it comes to prosecuting antics.
