And that is the real danger.  Too many legislators get sloppy over the years, safe seats leading to sloppy interactions with donors and local businesses, with spousal involvement in the business community  ... leading to stepping into not a William Jefferson case of overt corruption, but those more marginal cases you describe above.  Things that aren&#039;t overt, but have a tinge of impropriety that needs to be looked at.

Those should come out, be looked at ... but in the same way that we expect our justice system to act - quickly and summarily, so that the taint of suspicion doesn&#039;t drag on forever with a prolonged investion that stirs up much dust with no resolution.</description>
