During a speech in Tehran over the weekend, President Ahmadinejad accused everyone’s favorite sea creature and World Cup hero, Paul the Octopus, of being a symbol of all that is wrong with the world.
Ahmadinejad blamed the octopus for spreading ”western propaganda and superstition” and said:
Those who believe in this type of thing cannot be the leaders of the global nations that aspire, like Iran, to human perfection, basing themselves in the love of all sacred values.
The octopus, who correctly predicted the outcome of a string of World Cup matches, joins an illustrious list of enemies of the Iranian dictator, including those pesky Zionists, the United States, human rights and democracy.

This is a guy who thinks that a 5 year old boy has been living down in a well since the 10th century and will crawl out one day to save the world. A’jad actively goes about talking about this, including in front of the UN General Assembly. Meanwhile while we’re all waiting, A’jad and people like him drop notes to the little boy down the well.
Save us from superstition, A’jad!

Proper Translation: “I am nuts. I am crazy. I am a puppet of the mullahs. I hate the west, but watch Jersey Shore faithfully.”

I’m not sure he’s right to generalize Europeans as aspiring ” to human perfection, basing themselves in the love of all sacred values”. That’s assuming their leaders believed in Paul to begin with, which is already pretty fishy.. I could see maybe Zapo and Sarko believing in psychic octopi, but Merkel? Cameron? No way.
